How we started.
“For the last 8 years, I have had the privilege of living in a small East-African country called Rwanda. In Rwanda, I have been working with an organization called Hope for Life. Hope for Life is supporting boys between the ages of 8-13 years old to exit homelessness and reunite with their families. There are numerous reasons why a boy may end up homeless, but the most common are- extreme poverty, single parenthood, parental separation or divorce, and abandonment.
Living in Rwanda during this time, and walking alongside these families as they endure the most intense consequences of the pandemic has been life-changing. These populations were already vulnerable, and COVID has only continued to amplify their struggle.
When Rwandan Doctor, Claudia Kabanyana shared some of her stories from a rural hospital, it became clear that we both had seen firsthand the disadvantages that many single mothers faced in rural areas. Many women working tirelessly to provide for their children, yet never fully experiencing upward growth and truly breaking the cycle of poverty. Together, we decided we needed something that would help us, help them.
After months of market research and exploring different business ventures, here we are with our bath and body product social enterprise aimed at investing and supporting women’s entrepreneurial activities for mothers in Rwanda.”
